February 2020 Playlist

No mucking around this month — we’re straight into the action with an extremely funky and disco flavoured collaboration between BPlan and Fab_o — both from Naples, Italy — with Mia Cara. This track brings out some great classic sounds from the funk and disco era, from crisp bongos to a thick bass line; from smooth guitar riffs to hard-hitting trumpet; all tied together with simple and rhythmic drums. A great mood lifter.

Next up we have a track with some seriously deep groove by ConsciousThoughts — from Glasgow, Scotland — with Slippin’. Another arrangement that has a chasmic bass line, sharp guitar licks, crisp percussion, some fresh flute and real driving bass. A true toe-tapping number that I can’t wait to incorporate into a mix.

Enter Bomat, a Berlin based DJ and Producer, with his track Classy Talk, and damn does this one have some class. Starting off with some smooth piano, the tempo is set early with a bustling crowd in the background giving this piece a nice ambience. Then comes the bass, beefing up the composition to perfection. Classy Talk has some great details throughout the track including strings, sampled vocals and clean percussion that finishes off the track flawlessly.

I couldn’t go past this track by Folamour (France) as I saw him last Thursday at Civic Underground. His set had a remarkable energy that kept me dancing all night. And this track is no different — the energy, attention to detail and combination of instruments is second to none. Sensational vibe, just like his set.

I’m leaving you this month with a 10:13 progressive soothing house journey by Computer Data, from San Fran, with Abendrot. Upon listening to this track, and looking into the definition of Abendrot (the red colour of the Western sky around the time of sunset), I immediately felt the sensations of the fading sun on my skin while observing the slowly changing colour of the evening sky. Around the 6 minute mark we are taken into what I call the ‘club phase’, with an evolution in the tracks mood and energy.

Until next month, don’t sneeze.
